Certificates of Deposit

Investing can be an overwhelming subject. There are many options to choose from and each one may serve a different purpose and offer different rewards. So, where does someone begin investing? A Certificate of Deposit (CDs) can be a great option as an introductory investment or portfolio diversity agent. This is because of the options for short and long terms as well as the range of initial deposits you can put down on one.

Features

CDs never put your principal at risk, unlike other investment options such as stocks or bonds. This is because the Annual Percentage Yield (APY) on the CD is fixed until the end of the term of the CD purchased. There are still issues to evaluate, such as how long you are willing to lock up your money if at all. There are penalties imposed on those who withdraw money from the CD before it has fully matured, so consider how much you will invest and how long you plan on accumulating savings.

CD Ladders

A CD Ladder refers to when your investment portfolio has multiple CDs with varying short and long terms. The risk associated with CDs comes into play when locking funds in. If one is not careful, they may lock themselves out of their investment when they may need it or could invest the money being saved into a better opportunity. This is where CD Ladders can help! By investing in multiple CDs at varying, increasing terms, an investor will always have money coming in and will ultimately reduce the amount of time that they are locked out of all of the assets they invested.

To apply, click the button below and it will take you offsite to our application portal. Once there, click “Add Account to Your Membership” and select the CD you would like to purchase.
